Family-Based Treatment of Bulimia Nervosa

Bulimia Nervosa (BN) is a serious and difficult-to-treat eating disorder that's more prevalent than anorexia nervosa (AN). While there is little research on treatments for teens with BN, a recent randomized controlled trial comparing family-based treatment (the Maudsley approach) with supportive individual psychotherapy produced promising results.

The study was conducted by Daniel le Grange, PhD and his team at the University of Chicago's Eating Disorders Program. In June 2008, Maudsley Parents talked about bulimia and its treatment with Dr. le Grange.
